King's College London: London Estate
Levrant has been proud to work for King’s College London, supporting the ongoing conservation, adaptation, and management of its extensive and historically significant estate. Spread across four central London campuses, Strand, Waterloo, Guy’s, and St Thomas’, the university’s buildings reflect centuries of architectural development and the enduring legacy of academic life in the capital. The estate is remarkably diverse. The Strand Campus, for example, presents a layered architectural narrative that includes 17th-century terraced houses, Georgian and Victorian academic buildings, and mid-20th-century institutional facilities. At the Old Guy’s Campus, the heritage value is equally rich, with several buildings listed at the highest grade, standing alongside more modest but still historically valuable structures.

Portland Place
Set within the Harley Street Conservation Area and a short walk from Regent’s Park, this Grade II* townhouse is part of the distinguished Adam brothers’ composition along Portland Place. Designed in the late 1770s, the building retains many of its defining characteristics — balanced room proportions, refined detailing and intricate decorative plasterwork. By 2015, however, years of alteration and incremental change had softened the clarity of the original design. The owners sought to return the house to use as a single private residence, restoring its architectural integrity and strengthening its historic presence.

Cenotaph Assembly
The Grade II* Manchester Cenotaph, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1924, has long stood as a civic symbol of sacrifice and remembrance. Terraced Houses of London
From modest terraces on quiet streets to the grand palace-fronted rows of Belgravia and Regent’s Park, we have worked extensively on terraced houses across London and beyond. Often described as our bread and butter, these buildings remain endlessly fascinating. Despite their apparent uniformity, no two terraces are ever the same, with subtle variations in layout, detailing and character. This body of work spans all periods and scales, from Nash’s iconic terraces in Regent’s Park to the careful reworking of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian homes. Our projects typically involve extensions, roof additions, internal reconfiguration and contemporary insertions, alongside increasingly important retrofit measures that improve environmental performance while safeguarding historic significance.
