Levrant has been proud to work for King’s College London, supporting the ongoing conservation, adaptation, and management of its extensive and historically significant estate. Spread across four central London campuses, Strand, Waterloo, Guy’s, and St Thomas’, the university’s buildings reflect centuries of architectural development and the enduring legacy of academic life in the capital.
The estate is remarkably diverse. The Strand Campus, for example, presents a layered architectural narrative that includes 17th-century terraced houses, Georgian and Victorian academic buildings, and mid-20th-century institutional facilities. At the Old Guy’s Campus, the heritage value is equally rich, with several buildings listed at the highest grade, standing alongside more modest but still historically valuable structures.

Our team has worked on a wide range of projects across the King’s estate, from detailed building surveys to high-level strategic conservation planning. Key commissions include condition surveys for the Old Laws Buildings, assessment and advisory services for the East Wing of Somerset House, heritage input on fire precaution works at the Maughan Library, support for alterations to the Old Watch House, coordination of planning permissions for banners and flagpoles across the Strand Campus, and development of a strategic conservation brief for the wider estate. Throughout, we worked closely with the university’s Estates team and local planning authorities to ensure all interventions were carefully considered, appropriately scaled, and operationally feasible.

Our ongoing relationship with King’s College London showcases our ability to deliver expert, conservation-led solutions within complex urban heritage environments. By combining specialist heritage consultancy with complete architectural services, from early concept design through to implementation, we provide an integrated approach that helps major institutions make informed and sustainable decisions about their historic buildings. Our work ensures that each project is underpinned by a robust understanding of heritage significance, enabling change that is both respectful of the past and responsive to contemporary needs. This collaboration reflects our broader commitment to managing heritage assets intelligently, delivering long-term value for clients, communities, and the built environment alike.
